The Alaskan Rainbow Trout

Whats the difference between and Alaskan Rainbow Trout and the stocked rainbows we have in the lower 48?  How much time you got?  To start, AK Rainbows have a different diet.  Their feeding window is much shorter up in the last frontier and when salmon run up the rivers these fish sit down like a fat boy at a buffet and go to town.  This results in some of the biggest, hardest fighting, resilient trout in the world.  

Habitat - Due to the remoteness of many of the Alaskan streams, the AK Rainbow population remains largely intact.  They can be found all through the state, anywhere there are salmon runs, you are pretty likely to find Alaskan Rainbows.  They live in pristine, well managed, habitat with limited access.  So of all of the native trout species, the Alaskan Rainbow might have the best chance of continued survival.  Lets keep it that way!
