The Ultimo series is the highest end of the GT fishing rods made in Japan, featuring the best Fuji titanium components along with years of development and testing. This new model is specifically made for conventional reels which is a first in the lineup, made to appeal to a broader international market. 

These rods are 8'6" so the extra length helps with casting distance so whether you're casting stickbaits for Ulua, surface irons for big yellowtail or Halco's for 100lb yellowfin these will serve you well. 

The foregrip on these rods is covered with a rubber heat shrink tubing to make it more durable and give you more grip. The guides are oversized for casting knots on longer leaders, the running guides and tip are size 16 Fuji Titanium and the butt guide is a size 25 MN SiC. The rear grip is a bit longer to make it easier to cast and these rods break down to less than 70 inches so you can fit them in a shorter rod tube. 

As far as reel go for this rod there's any number of good combinations, they recommend the Studio Ocean Mark Mag 50-80 sizes but an Avet LX MC would be a great option that is also popular for GT casting in Hawaii. A Daiwa Saltiga 40-50 size would be another great pairing or even a low profile 400-500 size reel.
